Gilberto Silva

Gilberto Silva is a former professional footballer with close to 400 appearances to his name. He was a defensive midfield player known for his ability to breakdown opposition attacks. Having started his career in Brazil, he moved to England to join Arsenal. At Arsenal he was part of the history making “Invincibles” who went the whole 2003-04 season unbeaten.

He also represented Brazil on 93 occasions and played in their 2002 FIFA World Cup winning squad. Gilberto retired in 2013 with the following honours to his name: FIFA World Cup (1), FIFA Confederations Cup (2), Copa América (1), FA Premier League (1), FA Cup (2), FA Community Shield (2), Série B (1), Copa Sul-Minas (1), Campeonato Mineiro (2), Copa Libertadores (1), Super League Greece (1) and Greek Football Cup (1).
